dare I say it -- fun even
momentarily freeing your mind
from the job application doom scroll
that is getting you absolutely nowhere

you start to feel thankful you did this
grateful for their time
their connection
bc they care

the conversation
naturally turns back to you
and they ask you what you're up to now
and you tell them about your life and family
and the part where you're now looking for work

you tell them specifically what it is you're looking for
and that you're excited to find that thing
but want to make the right choice
and you ask their thoughts

they mention they have a friend
over at that company
in that industry
that part of the country
__ or what if __
they wish, but they don't know someone
but they're rooting for you anyways
and they want to keep in touch regardless
__ + what if __
suddenly they say "oh, waiiiiit you know what?"
and they think of 2 people you could chat with
or maybe -- you ASK them if they know
2 others you could chat with

to get an idea of what that company
or industry, or specialty -- is really like.
and they'd totally chat with you to share
what's really going on there
so you thank them
and then
you
do
it

that leads to more opportunities
more confidence and support
more peace and productivity
than applying online ever did
